Here is a pic of my dining area. Advice on some decor please.

New art work would add interest/color. Not sure about plants, maybe keep one in left corner but put on a much higher stand.

Before you begin to add decor, I recommend

    1) Add photos here and/or to your ideabook of rooms you like. I don't know what style your like (even though you are showing neutral decor now).

    2) Make sure the furniture works. It is looking really crowded. Can you even pull out the chair by the all or the one by the buffet?

Once those 2 things are done, we can look at decor.

Remove either the plants or the console table. Then all you need is larger, colorful art for just the back wall, which will give the room a focal point.

I definitely would like some art but not sure what color I would want to tie in. I do love shades of white but I guess some color needs to come in

Why is the dining table not centered under the chandelier??????

A large piece of art is needed to balance the large scale of the dining table and chairs.

You need 36-42" of clear floor space all around the table. I'm not sure centering it under the light will give you that much clear area. There isn't room for the buffet. Art that isn't above a piece of furniture should be centered 5' above the floor. It if forms a vignette with a piece of furniture below it, then it should hang 5" above the furniture. the potted faux greenery needs to go. Is that an open door on the left or would the buffet fit on that side of the space?

The table isn’t centered prob because I was sweeping.

The door on the left is the door to the garage

The door on the right is our patio sliding doors

Please don't consider art until you have the furniture set.

Can all 4 chairs be pulled out fully?

Is the table centered under the chandelier?

The only chair that can’t be fully is the back and I would just push the table a little. No one sits there. All other chairs can be pulled out.

I need to move table under chandelier a little.

You get art becuase you love it not becuase it “goes” with the room. IMO even prints should be bought because you love them . Anyother choice makes your space feel like a hotel room no personal vibe at all. I honestly do not like bar tables for DRs but that is a personal thing .Fake plants are never good and IMO that buffet is not appropriate with a bar table. When you hang the art it needs to be lower and I often even hang DR art a bit lower than the usual center of the art 60-65” from the floor . The reason is you view the art when you are seated.

I would remove the back chair and place move the table up against the wall. Place the chair elsewhere unless you need it.

The console table feels very short with the counterheight table. If you must keep it there, I recommend tall items on it. A trio of tall, narrow vases.

Then, large artwork on the wall.

What is your style? Do you like neutrals?

Thanks. Yes I do like neutrals.

I do kind of wish I didn’t get a high set but It be is what it is as of now.

Nothing wrong with a counterheight set. It feels more casual.

Can you move the buffet table elsewhere?

    How wide is your table?

Thanks. 54 in on each side.

A large piece of Art can really bring in a wave of deftness and add more color and life to your room. Attached some pictures to give you better idea :) I hope it will help to decor your space :)

The pictures are nice but I’m not sure they go with the room. Here is the room closest to it so you can kind of see the room.

This seems like a difficult decision to make. 😩😩

I’d second the advice to buy art you love, not necessarily something that “goes with the room.” Etsy has a ton of affordable options whether you prefer an original or a print. Maybe if you post examples of artwork you like people could suggest more?
