lighting dilemma

last modified: 5 years ago

We're a little further along, but it's time for me to find light fixtures. First, we walk into a small foyer which is 6' x 5' w/9.5' ceilings.

Then up 3 stairs to another small area that will have a bench and a wall sconce.

The contractor put the junction box 9" from the ceiling, so that may limit me a bit.

Here's the hallway into the kitchen. Past the kitchen is the living room & front door.

I'm struggling w/ coordinating the 3 light fixtures (foyer, sconce & hallway). The sconce you don't see when you're walking down the hallway from the kitchen BUT you will see it as you come into the house (through the pass-thru window).

QUESTIONS:

Since we don't see the sconce until we get to the bench area when we're in the house, do the two have to coordinate? BECAUSE you will see the all three fixtures when you ENTER the house...

Does the hallway light have to be the same (or coordinate) with the far light in front of the front door (because the two will be visible)? If that's the case, I'm locked into an antique brass finish (which there aren't many of.) WHICH, does that mean that all 3 fixtures have to be antique brass?

The fixture in the living room is antique brass. I'm thinking I have to match that to the light at the front door since they're so close to one another....

The house is pretty traditional - transitional in some places.

I'm thinking about this particular sconce because it can also serve as "art" on the wall - although it's fancy and may not really "go" w/the rest of the place. (Funny, this happens to be really close to the color of my walls!)

PLEASE HELP =)
