May look at a verticell?

I have a motorized shade on French doors to my porch. I used Smith and Hawkins. No issues after 4-5 years. The only thing is I have to be card when it’s opening to be sure it clears the door handle. Very satisfied with the product. You don’t even notice the wand.

Not a pro by any means although IMHO i really think you would not be happy with a horizontal anything on that type of opening in that space with that ceiling height.

@jjags Would you mind taking a picture of your door? How high above it is the shade mounted? Is it a reverse roll to clear the molding and handle?

I've used solar shades that size over large windows and a double, extra tall slider, that were very similar to this photo. You do need the reverse roll. I wouldn't pay extra for the motorized shades.

Have you considered grommeted drapes? They stack nicely to the side when open, and are easy to close, gliding on a metal drapery rod. It gives a more tailored look and no valance require (looks dated).They can be quite inexpensive if purchased online. Most drapes are also washable. What will the cats do to the closed roller blinds, which are costly and not washable?

IMO if night time privacy is the issue get grommet drapes that are easily washed and forget the whole idea of blinds unless you go solar shades that would be my choice. The solar shades are quite lightweight so can be done that width I do it often but what I like better are 2 blinds so the patio door can still open and the other shade can stay down. The bit advantage to solar shades is you get heat and UV control and keep the view but they do not offer night time privacy so I usually mix them with darpes and the grommet ones are awesome . BTW so glad those valances are gone .

We have had a vertical honeycomb cellular blind on our slider for the 13 years we have been in our home (here when we moved in, so probably older). It’s off white. We have cats, dogs and when our kids were little it would get touched by dirty kid hands. I was able to wash it down with a microfiber cloth and some spray cleaner and keep it relatively clean, and remove pet hair with a lint roller. We are redoing the kitchen and will get another this spring. when it’s all the way open it is almost invisible.

@jck910, would you mind giving a little more information about your setup? Are the solar shades you have light filtering or blackout and what are the dimensions? Did you install the wood cornice yourself? Do you have any issue with keeping the shades clean? Are they a chain pull or motorized?

Hi- sorry I did not see this request. Here are a few pictures. It is mounted around 3 inches above the door frame. The height was determined by the height of the windows in the room which have the same treatments ( non motorized). Here are the picture of the door when the shade is closed (notice the wand in second picture) and one of the windows. Hope this helps.

Last thing- it clears the molding no issue but you have to make sure it clears the handle. That is not issue for us you just have to guide it a small amount. That is what I was talking about in the original post about being mindful.
