You can't use laminate as a backsplash behind a gas stone - it will burn. Get a nice inexpensive tile.

Did you know you can buy an actual quartz (or granite) 4" or 6" backsplash that's 8' long for as little as $60?

they basically look like this, but you could get it in gray to match the concrete.

You want to save money? Then just paint the wall.

Or, it's cheaper to buy .20 white subway tiles and install them yourself. for less than 100 bucks you can tile the splash yourself.

They have tons of tiles on clearance. or the simple white ones at home depot for 4 for a dollar.

Or, use the tile just for behind the stove, and do something like a cheap beadboard for the backsplash elsewhere

try one this size and two-tone paint it.

or, do some plywood shiplap and paint it. (not behind the stove)

there are tons of cheap alternatives to a tile splash.

behind the stove get a piece of stainless steel

or try the mini glass tiles behind the stove. you can these for as little as $5 a sheet. look for closeouts, craigslist, leftovers at tile stores, etc.

to be clear, you don't need a backsplash. you can paint the wall and let it be, IF you're that much of a budget watcher. But good lord, do NOT do the laminate option as a splash.

Need backsplash behind stove as it has leftover adhesive from previous backsplash. Wall behind coffee bar is painted.

I said, the picture w/the blue tiles is how you should do your layout with simple and cheap ceramic tiles. I mentioned the 3x6 white subway tiles, but there are plenty of others.

compared to yours below, it's the same as your white laminate.

I don't understand your budget rationale. How much is the cost of the calacatta laminate? how thick is it? How will you finish the edges and the top?

Do you want this kitchen to look good? you're going through the hassle of painting the cabinets and doing concrete countertops? why would you want to do this laminate stuff ? you have about 10 sq feet to do, give or take. tile would cost like, $40, maybe a bit more. That's too much?

I also said you could do beadboard.

or, I said you could buy a pre-fabricated 4" backsplash in granite or quartz, and just use that across the span of the countertop.

You said you wanted to save money. I'm giving you a bunch of options that do save you money that don't look ugly
