Jumper to plant corn

last modified: 5 years ago

I could not get my information in other place and thought I would try here where there are a lot of experts on tools ;-)

I was reading the history of a county in northern Indiana, and in 1835 it was stated that "he planted 10 acres of corn with an old fashioned Jumper and a boy to ride the horse."

I search agricultural equipment for Jumper and found this

"Hammer, jumper, wedge and shovel and hand saw are also used from time to time in the various farm operations."

Can anyone tell me what kind of tool was used to plant the corn.
