You may be looking at things that are just normal features of the plant itself - it is hard to say because your pictures just aren't close enough views to tell. With the darkening and shriveling perhaps being due to the plant being kept too cool and damp, based in part on how dark the potting medium looks.

I don't see any trilobites (that's what I call mealybugs). Lucky for you!

Some of the leaflets look like they have sooty mold on them. Too damp as Embothrium mentioned. A lot of insects will be under the leaf instead of on top too.

I don’t see any mealybugs, or insects for that matter. I’ve looked under leaves, as well as closer to the base and stem of the plant and nothing. Should I begin to treat it with >70% alcohol or maybe just try running the plant under water? In the past, I tried trimming some of the brown and shriveling fronds but the issue has just gotten worst.

Thank you so much for your reply! I just finished clipping the brown fronds and she’s looking a bit bare, but I am excited to see her flourish. I would say it’s always pretty cold in my apartment but I went ahead and installed a humidity tray with sand. I also set up a humidifer near the plant and make sure to mist the fern daily. Thanks again :)
