G daylilies 2021
This Monday is G daylily day.
Quote of the day: “ my therapist told me: The way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what you started. So far I’ve finished two bags of M&Ms and a chocolate cake, I feel better already.”
Gently Down the Stream is still being evaluated here. So far it’s a trouble free bloom.
Getting Airborne is a tall one, hasn’t reached stats yet but that rarely happens here. Other than Autumn Minare, this is my tallest daylily. This is my favorite photo because it shows the velvety appearance of the blooms.
Get R Done was a bonus, I’m glad I have it. It’s been a pleasant surprise.
Going Bananas was an impulse purchase at my favorite garden center. It’s been anything but bananas here, not sure it has earned its keep.

GENTLY DOWN THE STREAM
Grace and Grandeur: Usually blooms taller, but I moved it in early spring.
George Jets On: Cute bloom. The color is not my favorite, but I love the pattern.

GET JIGGY with some insect damage. Not a prolific bloomer for me.
GAVIN PETIT: Also not a prolific bloomer for me. Slow to establish or it gets knocked back every winter
GREAT WHITE: Big blooms on a tall scape. Reportedly it cleans up muddy looking blooms. I haven't tried it yet.

I like the color on Great Balls of Fire. Geometric Wizard always catches my eye. I love that one. Garden Butterfly is beautiful too.
Gaudeamus is never very pink for us. It was very slow to get established and took off only after we moved it to another spot. I also is very reluctant to set seeds for me and pollen doesn't seem good either.
The scapes on Gay Activist are prone to blasting on the first round of blooms, but it always reblooms for us.
Glowing Quasar is a favorite here. The color is similar to Bass Gibson, but it's not as toothy but the scapes are taller.
Golden Glitz is a well come addition to the late garden.
Green Arrow's scapes often lean badly.
Greywood's Roseberry Sorbet hasn't been here long, but it looks like it will be a good grower.

Bob is collecting the daylilies in the Gryphon series. This is Gryphon Hankow legacy. All of the Gryphons have some form of fulva in their immediate background and they are all tetraploid. They all look like really strong growers. All of them are the uf or narrow petaled type.
Gudrid was a bonus plant years ago. For many years it was one of the few diploids that we grew. It's now been moved to a better place. We had one bed that eventually was over shadowed by a pine tree (the roots are terrible) and a row of lilacs. Gudrid is tall but the scapes aren't very strong. I agree with Margo Reed that diploid scapes add grace and movement to the garden that dowel rod scapes of tets often don't.

5 years agoI laughed at that quote too. Getting Airborne grabbed my attention but I like them all. You get great bonus plants! I am a fan of pale yellow so Going Bananas would be a keeper but then I have so few.
George Jets On really does have a great pattern.
Geometric Wizard always attracts me, I tend to enjoy that colour combination.
Glowing Quasar is lovely.

Grandma's Smile can have a beautiful bloom, but hasn't been photographed since 2017. Like many Smith cultivars, scapes can be short in the north.
I like the white midrib on Gypsy Cats.
Get "R Done It compels attention simply because of its size and height. It has nice shading too.
Glass Bead Game. Nice color, but often shorter scapes.
Get Jiggy. Oh yes, I too chose a photo with the chevron pattern, but that is not typical, and this one is history here. To me, it takes a better picture than reality. Isn't that the case with a lot of cultivars? Modestly budded too.
Grace Like Rain does not have great bud count, but it does bloom over a long time. A fresh color earlier in the season.
God Save the Queen has been consistently good. This 2020 pic is not my best of it, but it didn't disappoint.
Garry Bewcyk can be nice and can be splotchy. The color is rich. I have seen it perform differently in different locations.
Gavin Petit has shown itself well in the last few years. Its foliage, I think, may be susceptible to leaf streak.
Gentle Admonitions at Crintonic
Gimmee, Gimmee, Gimmee This older Davisson is vivid in the earlier garden.
Green Spill can be striking, but I would prefer a slightly larger bloom with tetraploid substance.
Geneva Firetruck has performed well here.
Glowing Quasar. This 2020 pic is not its best, but I agree with Hoosier Nan that it is exceptional.

Get Jiggy more typical blooms. Laurie shows a nice pattern in Canada though.
