Thank you for the ID, everyone. That light green central vein really threw me off. “Save” because nothing survives in big box stores and I had to remove some lower leaves. Will research further. Right now, it seems to be fine at the base of a potted gardenia on my porch.

I think they’d be happy in a dappled flowerbed in your climate. They won’t survive long in that little pot. They're perennial.

These are the same plants from the original post. I moved them to a larger container and placed them in the gallery, which is our open air atrium. They receive light all day but not direct sunlight. I keep them there to minimize exposure to high winds / salty beach air on the balcony. Overnight temps are 68/72; daytime temps 84/86. We are warming up for Spring now.

Look at the difference in two months time. They were a lot less green and had more color in January.

What does this tell us, please? Does it mean they need more light? They are growing nicely.
