Help with Mandarin Tree

I planted this a few months ago and it doesn't seem to be thriving. It recently developed this gray something on the leaves. My guess is that the drainage isn't good enough but I'm not sure what can be done about that. Any help would be appreciated!

Where do you live? What is your zone? What was the process when you planted? What kind of soil do you have?

The leaves are showing a magnesium deficiency. The leaf symptom of a magnesium deficiency in citrus, is a green delta shaped pattern in the middle bottom of the leaf. You can correct this situation by dissolving 4 oz. Epsom Salts (magnesium sulfate) in one gallon WARM water spraying the entire leaves top & underside.

I'm in Richmond, CA and my hardiness zone is 10a. I don't know much about soil types, but ours seems dense. I purchased the tree from Four Wind Growers and followed their instructions (dug a hole, straightened out the roots, planted the tree, filled in the hole, and watered thoroughly). I have occasionally used a 20-10-20 fertilizer.

Normal .... especially for this time of the year. These things don't uptake nutrients until the weather warms up consistently to the 80s. Depending on your specific soil, it could take 2 to 4 years before it settles and gets traction (speaking from experience). I do suggest giving it frequent small feeding as most new plantings are underfed. And forget the organics... the temps are not warm enough to make nutrients available until June. Citrus is not ornamental so don't expect perfection. Good luck and post an update in 3 months.
