I did that several times years ago with J&P. They would stop listing a variety for sale when the count dropped too low, but if you called, and they had it, you could buy it. Good luck!

Thanks, Kim. I'll call them tomorrow. I hadn't even thought to check with them since Lynette had said they discontinued it. That conversation was at least three Springs ago, now. I did notice that this years' listing says "Back!"...it just wasn't for long, lol. It does give me hope of acquiring it eventually. At least I know there's a mother plant out there.

Fig didn’t Lynette pass on cuttings from several roses to Palatine a few years ago? I believe the Pirouette I got last year was via Lynette, perhaps Menja is too. 🙂 Just wanted to add that I did not know her personally but always enjoyed her posts and gorgeous pictures. She had a wealth of knowledge and shared it generously. Lovely lady.

@Dingo2001 - Z5 Chicagoland, I can't remember for sure, but I'm under the impression that Palatine's original plant did come from Lynette, years ago. Her fear was that since they discontinued it, they might have lost their mother plant. I'm glad to know that whatever the source, they seem to still have it.

And yes, she was a lovely lady. But she also had a wicked sense of humor when you got to know her. The things I could tell...but definitely shouldn't, lol.

Rachel was unavailable when I called, but I got an email from the other (?) Rachel today. Hopefully I'll be able to get Menja eventually. Here's the email:

Hi John,

I have added you to our waiting list for Menja for this season. That would be a beautiful thing to have to remember Lynnette. I'm unsure if we will have it in next year's line up as I don't have that list right now. Hopefully, one plant will be available to you this season.
