Any suggestions X dealing with “Numb Finger Tips”?

Any suggestions X dealing with “Numb Finger Tips”, (to ask my Dr about)? After using my Stick Trimmer with a Hard Blade On It. This is a 1st since the 70s. I Probably “Trimmed Too Long” with My Hand “Locked On The Trimmer”. My goal has been to use “Thicker Gloves Since” this experience. I feel “Shock” is why my Neck Fusion Surgeon said no Ridding Lawn Mower vs walking behind a Mower. I actually used my 3 Wheel Hard Blade Edger with no problems. The Hard Blade On 3 Wheels will not fit in many places “Where The Stick Will”.

    Thanks ZM,

I should have asked if you have experienced Swollen Hands from using Vibrating Tools. If so, were you able to find padded gloves to help with the matter? This is a new experience after years of using Many Basic Gas and Electric Hand Tools on Jobs and around Home. Actually I have gone above Basic Tools as Nail Guns, Jack Hammers and Etc without any problems..

    Hi loger,

" I should have asked if you have experienced Swollen Hands from using Vibrating Tools. If so, were you able to find padded gloves to help with the matter? "

I have a walk-behind lawnmower whose handles vibrate some. My work gloves do not have any extra padding. My hands do experience some temporary numbness from using the lawnmower, but it goes away in a few minutes after I finish mowing. So apparently not a bad problem for me. I don't know of any gloves that have extensive padding. I have in the past experienced some hand numbness from riding my bicycle. That is a fairly common problem with bicycles. I dealt with that by the standard practice of wrapping the handlebars with cushion tape. I probably should wrap some of that tape around my lawnmower handles.

    Thanks zen_man!

I see some very good ideas from what you have shared toward "Extra Padding". I'll have to evaluate my padding. Most Of All, I feel I try to do "Too Much To Have Jobs Behind Me."

    • I did discuss my concerns with my Dr today. Since he had mentioned the cool weather could be affecting problems in my neck.. Problems that were not addressed during the Neck Fusion as bone spures and Etc... I will slow my work as I follow up on possibly more Exams.

Follow your Dr's advice , excessive pulling , lifting and twisting or even prolonged pushing a lawnmower will aggregate neck conditions . Swelling or pinching a nerve can cause your extremities to have a numb feeling . I had a neck fushion 35 yrs ago , have had a few episodes of neck and arm pain from over doing it , take some time off and let it heal bud !

Thanks! I Respect and listen to My Body and Drs. My New Challenges are “Cutting Back” # 1 and Finding and Working with Good Help # 2. Being Retired you would think that would be easy. I was having fun doing so much more of what I enjoy and saved “Projects” for retirement. I actually saved too many “Hobby Projects Too Long Related To Technology”.

Do you use the Dipped in Rubber Light Work Gloves? In my search to find Longer Lasting Firewood Working Gloves I tried a Pair (from info I saw on this site). I was aware I would only get X number of hrs for the price. I have been OK with that and went for thicker ones for more padding. My recent experience has been finding good stored Light wt gloves too hard to use. Stored out of Sun Light and had not been exposed to Oil or Chemicals.

What could cause them to get hard with basically no use and out of sun light? In My Truck (in the Garage) should not be a factor or should it with my little use?

Next! We are learning some new lesions here in the DFW area related to Winter Weather. This is my 2nd time experiencing weather this Low and Damaging. The Firewood allowed us to stay home and house our 2 Kids and 2 Grands. I had no Idea of what my Wife and Daughter learned “Girl Scouting” related to us Staying At Home without any serious matters.

I was able to share my experiences with Plenty Firewood and Fires when our Power and Central Heat went down. So far only one Broken Brass Ball Valve on our Recessed Patio (with a Heavy Vinyl Drop to the South). It was less than a 30 min repair plugging…
