I would like to add a window treatment to this room. There is furniture against the windows and there are no other options to rearrange the furniture. I need privacy since this is a bedroom so I need to have the blinds along with drapery or valance. I know floor length drapes are what is in style today however I only have two choices. I can either put a valance or a window sill length drapery. The ceiling is 10 ft. high. 13 inches from ceiling to top of window frame. The window is 73 in from top of frame to sill. Any thoughts please?

This is an example of a faux Roman blind. It’s a non working top treatment that you would mount outside the window trim. It gives a more updated look than a valance.

I think it looks nice as is but if you must add a window treatment, do an upholstered box (not a frilly or gathered) valance.

I also like it as it....

Valences seem a bit dated and hanging curtains that won’t reach the bottom of the window trim also seems like a bad idea.

So unless you plan to pull that desk off of the wall some so curtains have the space to gather behind the desk and to the bottom of the window trim, maybe just change the color of the blinds to add some variance.

I think wood or woven blinds would look nice in this room.

Altho I agree with a faux roman if you must have something and definitely no curtains, however I would just leave the blinds by themselves, as you have enough going on with that large furniture. Looks good as is.

I used to make those for customers. They are easy to make since they dont require working parts.
