I dont think the tall posts on the bed work with the ceiling. I'd take them off and put a nice big piece of art behind the head.

Will you be adding nightstands with lamps? I always find bedside lamps to add some coziness to a bedroom. You could also add more pillows to the bed. And maybe add some art. Right now the cold black metal piece above the bed isn't adding any coziness.

Thanks! I should have added we are in the process of remodeling our master bedroom, meaning all things in this picture will be gone! Including wall color. I have been searching ideas for vaults(beams, but not thick heavy ones, to create false panels) Few photos I have saved...also love the look of wood covering entire ceiling.

I would go with white and light warm neutral colors.

Panel drapes on the windows by the bed would go a long way in adding softness and warmth to the room.

Hard to suggest layout/ideas without seeing entire room. It will also depend on what furniture you will be purchasing. Here are some ideas though that would warm the room up, but search vaulted master bedrooms on Pinterest for lots of ideas.

Beams, padded headboard, paint color, warm wood tones and bed side lamps

Chandelier, chair where highboy is, drapes on door and Roman blinds on windows, bench, layered bedding, layer a rug

I second the idea of painting walls and ceiling one color. I have worked in many homes with bedrooms like this and every customer’s designer choose to paint one color.

Since you said you're starting from scratch, you could literally do anything. It just depends on the style you want, and your budget. Cozy means different things to diff people.

the current bed style you have is very large and bulky, so you'd need to find something diff.

do you have a large closet? I'd wouldn't do a dresser and a tall chest. if you have to, get a larger dresser or redo the master closet for better storage.

maybe some floating nightstands under your windows?

Can you move your bed to the other wall? this way you could have taller nightstands. (or redo the windows on the other wall)

take advantage of the vaulted ceilings and make that a focal point. you can use wood, beams, panels on the wall, whatever you prefer.

Thanks to all! Bed will be going away. I am trying to figure out the construction part and paint color first, so my husband can get started on that. I want the ceiling to feel lower.

I like the idea of ceiling paint to match walls, definitely something other than white. I like the idea of some panels on the windows. I also like the idea of the entire vault with wood, like in my 2nd picture.

Closet is off the bathroom and we just had a company install closet organization...best thing ever! I love how our bathroom turned out and want to carry that same serene feeling out to the bedroom.

Beth H thanks for all the pictures, I have that first one in my saved ideas. I like the false panels. If we do any beams for the vault, I like the lower profile beams, less heavy feeling.

Bed will most likely stay on the window wall because of where the door into the bedroom is located and the doors to the patio are located, I do wish those windows were not on either side of the bed though. Thanks again for all the ideas. My husband is anxiously awaiting!
