Peek-a-boo Purple - nice for a second year plant. Looking forward to this one this year.

Peppermint Ice - another 2nd year plant, slow grower so far.

    Picasso

    Piecrust Promise

Pin Up - disappointed in this one last year. After three years of increasing in size, it got a little smaller.

Prairie Sky - my best blue, had to move it forward in the bed last year so I could see it better.

Ok, I’ll be the first to admit- I don’t get the first joke... if someone understands it, please explain. The second one reminds me of the Three Stooges. The Van Gogh mug is awesome! And the third- well, that’s a concept I’m all too familiar with! Good ones, Paula! But I’m really wondering about the WofOz one... hmmmm....

I have only three P’s and only one (pretty bad) picture of plantaginea:

    Brain Freeze

These hosta are so gorgeous. Just WOW, people! Thanks for sharing, everyone. I have several P hostas. My Pizzazz and Praying Hands were not nearly as photogenic as any of yours.

    Here are a few.

Paradise Glory 6/27/20. This one looked great until the last week of November this year. It is very tall; a young Komodo Dragon is behind it.

Paradise Joyce 8/9/2020, supposedly both of these plants. I think the real PJ is the one on the right, which lightened ever-so-slightly by late autumn. The lovely on the left matches my June from emergence to dormancy in timing and coloration, so is a June. PJ is not great for me so far, but it is only the first year.

Parisian Silk 4/18/20. This is not photoshopped. And it makes blue flowers. Love it!

Paul's Glory 6/27/20, year 2, grown in nearly full sun.

    Pea Pod (Solberg) 6/17/20

    Pewterware 8/29/20

Picasso 6/27/20. Sorry for the above view; fairly upright plant.

    Pilgrim 6/27/20

Pineapple Upside Down Cake grown in too much sun, but flowers well there. Some water and sun stress

    7/20/20

Prairie Sky 4/20/20, with a tiny Bulletproof and a young (tall!) Jetstream. Maui Buttercups in front left with its cute, round leaves. The light green is Fragrant Blue.

Brain freeze! I did that with some horchata the other day. I guess that's a good sign I still have something left up there, lol.

First thought was, oh to be young and nimble and feel like you're invincible. After they fall and hurt themselves they won't feel that way any more.

Lot's of good looking P hostas, everyone!

    Parhelion

    Pewterware

    Pineapple Upside Down Cake

Popcorn has the same four leaves every year, but they grew bigger and rounder this year.

steve, is your pinup getting less water than it used to? When mine start shrinking that's the first thing I check. Your Parisian Silk is looking good!

mbug, I had to laugh at "big boy scape." It is for such a little hosta!

peren.all/Laurie your Praying Hands never ceases to amaze!

Agreed, Sandy- Laurie’s Praying Hands is the best one I’ve seen... when it’s larger and fuller like that it’s quite attractive!

a short version of my better written post that didn't post 😡..

    I got the OZ joke!..

previously posted pics of Plantaginea, Paul's Glory and Praying Hands are nicer pics than mine so I'm posting only Pineapple Upside Down Cake progression pics..

    4-4-20
    4-11-20
4-18-20..I'm on Gardenweb and can label each pic but we'll see if it posts this time..

Got a twofer, Paul’s Glory and Praying Hands.

Ok, windymess I’ll admit I didn’t get joke one either. Thanks to steveduggins for the answer....... :-)

    Part 2

This PJ is from 2019 mid summer; one of my favorites

    Part 3:

could not get a close up due to my other hip surgery last year so this is 2019

    Paradigm, may have been 2019

Debra, all of yours are beautiful!

Thanks for the suggestion Sandy. Water shouldn't be an issue. It's in the middle(ish) of a bed with other Hosta that were fine. I'm trying to remember if I pulled off a solid colored sport earlier last year. I know I did on Snake Eyes, but not sure about Pin Up. I also don't remember having any brain freeze for the last several years. (Except in my dream last night, lol). I have some more (not so great) Hosta pics and there may be better pics above, but I'm going to post them anyway while I'm waiting for the next letter. Although, I'm glad there's a down day as the alphabet goes way too quick as it is.

Prairie's Edge (left) and Paisley Border (right) - second year for this bed on a slope showed little growth from the previous year. The rest of these pics are from this bed except for P&P at the bottom.

    Marbled Cream (front) Orange Star(back)

Pamela Lee - missing pictures of most of the Hosta around this tree.

Lovely Rita doing the photo bomb.

Plum Nutty and Peedee Laughing River on the other side of that tree.

    Prestige and Promise

Here's a pic of Paisley Border from 2019 for your pain and suffering of looking at the blurry photos above.

Paul’s Glory. One of the few hosta in my yard that doesn’t have to battle maple leaves. It shares a chunk of space carved out from the cement patio with camellias but the heavy soil is free from those pesky masses of weblike roots

Brain freeze! I should have guessed, since Scarecrow is the only one without it.... I’ve never actually had that problem (maybe I should get a brain too), but everyone else in the family complains of that.

This has been the most “dangerous” letter so far - tempting me to buy more than I should (or have room for).

Lots of pretty P's today - Will try again - damn houzz!

Prairie Moon - My favorite early, so bright.

    Pilgrim

    Peppermint Ice

    A few more

    Patriot

    Paradise Sunshine

Paradigm - Never seems to increase

    Praying Hands

Very nice hostas! Oursteelers, your Paul's Glory has fabulous coloration. The first PG that I got looked like yours. The rabbits agreed that it looked good enough to eat.

Paul’s Glory is in the back patio and the rabbits don’t come that close to the house. The hosta farther away in the other hand...☹️

I’ll admit I studied that coffee mug several times before I realized who it was. Doh!

Wow this is a popular letter. I've got Pineapple Upside Down Cake, Patriot, Phantom, Purple Bow Tie, Popcorn, Pocketful Full of Sunshine and 3 large Paul's Glory. I do have some pictures but I'm at the office working on clients' tax forms so maybe I will get organized this year so that I will have some to post. Does Paul's Glory grow like a weed for other people.? I've split mine 3 times in the past 15 years. My Praying Hands was a disaster from day one and I've never replaced it.

miles..my Praying Hands was a disaster too 😥..it made me feel like a failure..it was in a pot and squirrels bothered it..Iast fall I took the pathetic thing out and "heeled it in" in my compost bin..if it's there in the spring I'll plant it somewhere out of sight 😂..

I moved my Praying Hands from shade to partial shade. They are looking better now. I am hoping this year they jump.

My Praying Hands has been limping along, but from seeing the ones here that are doing so well, I'm wondering if PH benefits from more direct sunshine than other hostas might like.

    last modified: 5 years ago

sandyslopes..besides squirrel tampering mine were in a lot of shade..I saw the same advice that Praying Hands likes sun..that's my biggest consideration when looking for a new planting spot..☀️

I forgot Pearl Lake..I have 4 of them..this is a hosta library pic..I've posted pics of mine years ago..I must've deleted my photos and haven't taken new ones.. 🙁

I like this hosta and would recommend it..

    last modified: 5 years ago

sandyslopes I am further north than anyone here, approx. 45 miles SW of Ottawa. My Praying Hands gets sun until about 2:30-3:00. It does seem to respond well.

nw Pearl Lake is a beauty. Now that you know you don't have any pics of it I hope you get some next year.

peren..you're so right..I can't wait to take 2021 pics..the alphabet is a good reminder for me to take more pics..close ups..the beginning to end stages of plants..different seasons..times of day..to have a nice record of what happens in my garden..even if only for myself..

Paul's Glory on the north side of house. Protected from afternoon sun.

Paul's Glory on the south and west, gets full sun most of afternoon. Really lightens the color but has grown well.
