It's fine as it is. You could try to find a touch-up pen to hide the chips in the cabinets.

Add a nice rug (long runner) in a sagey- green, and then add artwork and towels that repeat the color. I agree to change the bulbs so you don't have such a yellowish tinge to the light.

Peel and stick white subway with grey “grout”, baskets on fridge to hide and store things, a runner and if budget allows, a semi flush light (perhaps owner would pay half or take with you when you leave)

I would definitely paint the wall behind the cabinets a color...but before going further ...a picture from as far back as possible would help...assuming this is small space...whatever you do must relate to the surroundings

We might recommend repainting the walls a lighter color, updating the hardware on the cabinets, getting better lighting, and perhaps placing a rug in the kitchen as well. Here is a design of ours that might just help:
