I am pretty familiar with the genus but know of no resource that evaluates different cultivars based on the time they drop their leaves. It will depend on growing conditions and climate but the leaf drop will be somewhat simultaneous for all.

In my area, they are barely even showing fall color in September and most can retain leaves until well into November! An early leaf drop would indicate some sort of cultural stress.

Just pick whichever one you like that fits your requirements. The timing of leaf drop should not be a factor in choice at all.

What about planting something evergreen? Also if you plant maples and they spread out to eventually fill the entire space is that going to create an access problem?
