I'm not familiar with a hoya called 'microphylla' so I will assume you meant 'macrophylla'. You should do a search at the top of this page because there are quite a few discussions about macrophylla.

I do have one. Received it as a small rooted plant with about four leaves. Initially it grew a long stem and generated two new adorable little leaves that subsequently fell off. It took another 4 months for it to try again. My theory is that it takes a while to settle in.

It seems to appreciate a more frequent watering than some of my other hoyas. I also read somewhere on Gardenweb that the origin of macrophylla is an area with with more acidic soil. So additional acid fertilizer might be beneficial. I just water mine with the same fertilizer all my other plants get which is DynaGro FoliagePro (for the most part, although sometimes I use others).

Be sure that if you search you search for 'hoya macrophylla' otherwise you will end up with a lot of information regarding hydrangea macrophylla. If you start typing in the search bar at the top of this screen it will auto-populate "in Hoyas" for you.

Popmama - thanks for your reply! I’ve had the same experience with most of my Hoyas. Unless I’m giving them greenhouse conditions (which I can’t) they’ll drop their baby leaves the first few attempts until they finally acclimate to my conditions.

I’ll post a phot below of Microphylla below, the only information I can seem to find is from Swedish growers.

Who knew! I only thought there was a macro - now I find out there a mini too?! Amazing. Wonder why it's not called a minimacrophylia?! If I were naming them that's what I'd call it - just to piss off the botanists out there!

So - now I've go to search for a minimacrophylia - I too want one!

I stand corrected! I apologize and I am glad you found that old thread. I have never heard of or seen this hoya. Although that isn't a surprise because there are so many that I have yet to know about.

While it is adorable, I know it won't be for me. It's just too diminutive.

It makes me think of serpens which I do love. But boy howdy that grows so slow and the only way I can keep it alive is living under a glass cloche.
