What do you mean that you’re stuck decorating it’s black and white if you choose a counter with gray/black?

It depends on what countertop you want. Carrara marble will be gray and white, but that doesn't mean you're stuck with gray. It's really a neutral. Do you want dark counters. Soapstone would look great too.. Doesn't mean you're stuck with black - again, it's a neutral. Now, if you ended up with a color like green, etc., you can box yourself in a bit. What type of counter are you interested in?

I’m leaning towards granite or quartz. I’m looking for something with tan and white. I’d like for the white cabinets to bring out the white in the countertop and the tan to go with the island that will be a dark stained wood. Keeping it neutral will allow me to blend in a few items of sage green like curtains, wall art, Knick knacks, etc. We have an Airbnb with white cabinets with black, white and grey countertops. I can see past the black and white to add any other color, so I’d like to stay away from that.
