Is it a rental? Can you add color, wallpaper , or make a feature wall?

Why does the carpet have to stay? Spend money on that FIRST. The room is nearly featureless. You can get headboard for 99.00 a piece At any Home Goods. Add art.....A new lamp. Freed of the dark and dreary carpet, your options are limitless.Neutral rooms are fine, but they need more exciting "bones", light, and a lot o texture. Failing that, they are blah as all get out :)

You could paint the back wall teal blue and add a large gold framed picture or mirror over each bed.

If you need to keep the carpet and want a neutral room, I'd go light and bright. Paint the walls a creamy white, get some headboards, change the bedding to something neutral, put art above the beds, etc.

Maddie, besides starting with carpeting and nightstand, anything else? Can you show window wall and the others please.

Can't find his in rectangular, but peaceful and pretty. In my opinion. a mirror isn't peaceful when you see yourself half-asleep, etc...

Is it really neutral color you want or would soft but solid colors work for you? if you must keep the brown carpet get rid of the cold grey sheets and the busy patterned bedding. You could use the blue from the lamp shade or a muted sage, teal or dusty rose for the bedding. Any neutrals should be warm like cream or beige to go with that brown carpet. A large mirror behind the lamp above the night stand would bounce more light in the room. but I really think you need some wall art. For Headboards I would match the night stand or a warm creamy color for padded ones. Jan's pictures offer some great ideas

If changing the carpet is not an option, maybe finding a neutral rug to span the gap between the beds and which extends beyond the foot of the bed, this could let you make the most of Jan Moyer's suggestions....

I agree with Jan Moyer (love the pics she posted). Adding headboards, art, and possibly a mirror behind the nightstand will go a long way in making the room fresh and welcoming!

kazzh.. idea about rug only between the beds I thought of, and someone would say that a toe tripping on the edge would push someone into the nightstand. ?
