Repolishing travertine shower

Hi! We're trying to re-polish our travertine shower. There are some very minor water marks/etching. When we first bought the tiles, they were only honed, and so we rented a floor polisher and used diamond grit Monkeypads - started 800, then 1500 then 3000 and a buff to bring the tiles up to a bit more of a shine before we installed them. Worked great, so we know what we're doing at least. We've been sealing them with a normal penetrating sealer (not wax). Now about 8 years later, we want to re-polish the tiles before re-sealing. We're using the exact same pads, just had to cut them down to 4" for our hand polisher. However we're not getting the same sheen we got the first time - doing exactly the same thing 800/1500/3000, about 6-10 passes and our tool is also running at around 200 rpm. The marks are gone, but this time tiles only just look honed, no shine whatsoever. What are we missing/ doing wrong this time? The only difference I can tell is the first time we used the big floor polisher machine and just lay the tiles on the floor, this time it's a hand tool. I tried to get a photo of the before and after but tough to get the right angle to convey - sorry!
