Please help... flooring, counters, backsplash and hardware

Ok I just received the sample door for my new cabinets. They are from Willow Lane. Color is Dove Grey. Same door in both pictures, just different lighting... I am leaning towards the long plank sample... But would like some advice. The cabinet seems to have a cool blue undertone to me... So does that mean everything has to have a cool blue undertone? Everything will be replaced expect for the yellow on upper walls to the right of the patio door. Its a sentimenatal thing so I do want to keep the yellow. So this is nearly a blank slate. The colorful rug will not be in the kitchen.

this is an older picture, appliances are now stainless steel. The kitchen does get tons of light! It is east facing. This is the yellow that I would like to keep.

Sentimental I get, but I don’t know how you are going to marry that yellow with your choices.

Hello there beautiful pieces, I understand the Sentimental piece so I would suggest going for a darker countertop with that gold in a style marble. This may not be your style or taste but an example to pull in your walls with the color choices that you picked

Yea I know that is what I was afraid of... I do like that counter... But I wanted white quartz with some veining to look like marble or even a plain white... and this backsplash. Its a large tile 24 x 48... I really do not like grout lines.

Is the flooring going in the whole space or will it adjoin something else? I would not pick grayish for the floor. Go for a true non-red wood color. Will that rug be in the adjacent sitting area?

Yes the flooring will be the same throughout the entire main floor. The rug will be in the living room. There is a wall separating it.

I love that counter that you picked try to get the sample of that if you can of the counter you selected and go from there. The overall experience is for what you want as an end result I know it will be beautiful! Please send updated pics!! I’m so excited to see!!

so maybe this flooring? this was my least favorite of the samples prior to receiving the cabinet sample... I just dont want to go with the wrong flooring... a very expensive mistake.

I do love yellow. We have a cottage with a bedroom that color.

IMO blue gray cabinets will clash with this yellow. Have you considered white? Our trim against that yellow is white and I love it. More photos:

Yes, or even darker. I would not mix that backsplash with the quartz you describe. I agree with claymonte--you need something to bring in your yellow but without being too busy. It seems claymonte thinks the picutred stone is for the counter? Which is it? Regardless, don't mix that pattern with another pattern.

This is what I want as backsplash

so with this backsplash I want, what color quartz would you recommend junco?

Bring a sample of that tile home and see how it really looks with the cabinet door and the yellow paint. It's hard to visualize if it will work or not. As someone suggested above, are the cabinets set in stone? can you switch to another color such as white that will highlight your desired yellow.

Maybe a solid white or gray quartz. But gray only is the cabinets can be white.

Ok I can do solid white... I think that might even be the least expensive of the colors too!

what about gold hardware to bring on the yellow?

I don't know about that. Maybe someone else will have an idea.

Cabinets are already ordered... I am on a tight budget and had to order online as all other options such as HD and Lowes were quite a bit more than I could spend... And did not have enough time to order a sample before placing the actual order... So I will have to work around the cabinet color. The good thing is, everything else is also getting updated too. I'd like to make the yellow work but if not, that can be painted.

Do not order or put back splash in until the cabinets and counter are installed. Then bring home samples and see how they look in your lighting, your kitchen with the flooring you chose.

I can do that... So what flooring then? ? I wanted a light one like the one below... But I am no professional...

Me neither, but I would think the lighter one would go better with your cabinet color.

Think of your cabinets as a cool color, the flooring on the right is "warm" so they

    generally don't blend.

In my opinion, the floor samples on the right are not too warm and they provide contrast with the cabinets. If you have any hope of keeping your yellow walls, you must have something that stands up to them. The cabinets and the pale floor just fade into each other.
