Shorter time under lights now, then increase in spring?

I've always had my T5 grow lights on for 15 hours during the entire seed-starting-and-seedling-growing season, roughly late-January through April. They're on for same amount of time in late January as they are in April. Recently I've heard that some people have them on for 11-12 hours at the beginning of the season (February-ish) and only increase to a higher amount later on. This makes sense and mirrors the increasing daylight length in nature, but I just never thought to do it. I'm curious what others do? Right now it's mostly delphinium that I have under lights, if that makes any difference.
