Um, isn't this plant in UK? It might be native there rather than invasive species ...

I have to admit I have never seen or heard of it, even though it is a native.

Just an aside, after doing some reading.

Recently, floral, in a thread about Eden Project, mentioned the paucity of native British flora.

It would appear that H. rhamnoides was one of the early pioneer plants that started the recolonisation of Britain, after it was scoured clean during the last Ice Age.

I went by this statement in the article. Maybe I read it wrong.

Looking at my reference books, it appears to be native to Britain, but is classified as an invasive non-native weed in Ireland.

Yes - they are touchy about being invaded by things from Britain in Northern Ireland.
