I think you've gone the wrong direction with the navy rug and the trellis patten is getting tired as well. Lighter blue or even teal would work better than navy. See how well that blue pillow on the left of your sectional works. That's the direction you should go.

Is it possible at all to turn the sectional so it STARTS at the window and then the window is more open? You could leave room for the curtain panel and then start the sectional. It looks like a piano is there, but will it still fit if the sectional turns? The two small pics by the window would need to move, most likely, if there was a curtain panel there, too.

Look how pretty the yellow pops on your sectional. What about adding more and maybe even using yellow for your curtains?

Take your favorite picture to Walgreen's and have a canvas made of it to hang over the sectional on the blank wall. Use yellow and blue in the picture. OR if you like music.....piano.....make a gallery wall by framing sheet music on that wall.

Do you have or need a lamp? That table might be too small and not sure if there is room for one even. Floor lamp in the corner if you move the sectional????

Here are some thoughts: a BIG mirror on the blank wall will reflect light and visually increase the space. You can bring in color and texture with the frame. Browse Craigslist and flea markets for affordable options that reflect your style. Also, perhaps you can try adding a patterned accent chair, a cozy throw, and a low, round coffee table (hammered metal?) Choose at least two cheerful colors to brighten up the beige background. Then carry those colors around the room with your accessories. Enjoy your new space!

I do like the bright blue pillow. Maybe I could do a monochromatic color scheme with the navy and other blues because I just bought the navy rug so I kinda wanna use it.. ha. And the sectional has to be where it is. Our TV is on the other wall and there's actually a fireplace too (the keyboard in the pic was there temporarily during move in) and the couch would run in to the fireplace if I move it. I'll take a picture of the other wall and post soon.

OK.......then you will just need to move it out away from the window and curtains a little.

You just need to choose a color from a pillow on your couch and use it more in your room.....drapes, wall, candles.

This is the other side of the room. We moved the keyboard so it's just the fireplace and the TV, which kind of feel like competing focal points to me so I'm thinking of getting a large mantle and having it go from the edge of the fireplace to the edge of the TV to blend the two areas together and have a place to add colorful accessories.

The lamp needs to go over by the sectional. The pictures should not be just lined up on that wall. It makes everything on that wall just run together.

Well I thought by running the picture across both areas (TV and fireplace) that it would make it feel more like one focal point... That's why I thought having a large mantle-like shelf run across would work too.

I am thinking, you don’t need pictures on every wall so take the pictures from the wall on the left of the sectional and place the standing lamp there. I agree move the sectional away from the wall a few inches not only does this make the room look larger it gives some space for curtains, I would chose a neutral colour for the curtains maybe just pick up the colour of the lighter colour in the rug. Place just the larger of the pictures, the one with the large wooden frame, on the wall on the right, centred above the fireplace, and the rest including the two from beside the sectional free form on that bare wall! with the one picture over the fireplace it will bring your eye towards the fireplace as the centre instead of the whole wall and TV, I am thinking try moving the rug a little more towards the fireplace as it cuts the space in two the way it is. Our design team thinks that because you have an awesome blue rug, you should integrate that color into your plans. Then accessorize with some throw pillows, etc. for a finished look! Maybe integrate some red and orange, with some neutrals like gray! Your furniture is nice and neutral! Also, I would move the keyboard away from the front of the fireplace- allow it to be a focal point! Please see the attached:

Unless you're willing to splurge for a new sofa or custom slipcover, the rug won't fit in. Perhaps it could be moved to the bedroom? The wall to wall goes fine with the sofa.
I would pull the sectional closer to the fireplace, with the chaise section parallel to the window wall. Put the keyboard and photos on the long wall by the window, and position the TV on that wall was well. Place a tall vertical mirror, piece of artwork or small section of wall decals next to the keyboard to break up the wall.
Nice sheers and privacy drapes from the corner to an equal distance on the left side of the window. Teals, yellows, chocolate browns, whites- leave them open with the full window exposed when you want light. A mirror over the fireplace wall will reflect more light into the room.
I'd also add a bench seat or low bookcase by the window, a coffee table and a tall shelving unit next to the fireplace.

Working with your big ticket/non replaceable items, orange or kiwi would be a good color to add to darker browns, beige and Navy in a couple of toss pillows and full length Navy/Beige drapes (Bed, B&B,world market or target have these). Just pull out the sectional a bit so they aren't squashed between it and the wall. Your best bet would be to add a (#1) TALL dark book case (IKEA/Target) with adjustable shelves and a back next to the fireplace that can hold your TV. Many bookcases have a back that you can paint or cover in a complimentary color/paper/fabric. The bookcase and drapes will do wonders to warm up the room. (2) Move those nice matching prints above the table near the door to above the fireplace with a coordinating mirror and purchase a big complimentary canvas for the big blank wall (Target has one). Add a lamp for the table, a Navy throw and a small square coffee table when your budget permits. Repeat your main colors of Navy, Beige and brown in pillows. Drape brackets should be about 8+" on either side of window so that they don't take away light when open.
