@shirlpp the room is currently empty besides for the cabinets. there is a large space on side of kitchen for living area anD in front of kitchen is space for dinette. I need to go out and buy new furniture. so was wondering what color to bring in?

Greetings! I agree with Shirlpp... pics would be helpful so ppl can envision the space as well as see wall & trim color, lighting, flooring... and any other details.

But, pics or no pics, I wouldn't necessarily base the color of the sofa, or any other big features off of the cabinetry color.

And Wait, what is changing to white?

Wood tones typically blend well with other wood tones. Unless there are strikingly unusal elements to consider or an overload of wood furniture, layering wood tones will foster a warm & earthy interest and even offer a subtle textural and dimension.

If it's easier, you could always accomplish this by choosing wood tones that are somewhat similar to your cabinets. AND by loosely following the rule of layering woods; use each color twice

I just (very much) recommend not going for an exact match. Matchy matchy woods and furniture often looks dated and tired. See pic that says "too matchy"

With that being said, I bet the color of your dining room furniture will turn out great. More than likely, the MORE difficult decision will be picking the right furniture for the space itself.

As for your sofa (and your dining table) I would focus on choosing sustainable pieces that you love that are timeless, neutral, have clean lines and are sized proportionately to the space.

To bring this full circle, my recommendation is to choose your furniture based on what you love and what is right for the space (meaning functionality and size)...and it'll all come together in the end

IMO with no pictures all you are going to get is a bunch of ideas we like. I see in your idea books that you are all over the map for style so maybe try to narrow that to 2 choices for a start.
