A Call to all Gardners and Landscape Buffs
Comments (26)Love the picture cyn222 sent in. You definitely need a side walk extend to connect to the other one. Gardening is my favorite hobby also. Other great plants are perenials such as daylilies. They are my favorite. They are drought resistant and grow in just about any soil and they give you blooms and smiles year after year. Some will rebloom throughout the year also. I have several that are reblooming now. They come in lots of pretty colors also and are fragrant. Liriope is another great, great perennial. It's a type of grass that used in border gardening and it has a small purple flower also. Forever roses are nice also. They flower from spring till frost. Evergreen Euonymous plant come in variegated plants (yellow and green leaves and green and white leaves) and are low growing (under 5ft). They will provide lots of nice color all year round. I also have Rosemary plants. They are great as a small fragrant evergreen plant (mine is about 3ft tall. Lovely plant also. You can't go wrong with daylilies for sure! They are the one plant that you can depend on year after year and they have never let me down.. I just bought a few plants at a time, year after year....See MoreOLLD 5-6-13
Comments (178)@linda have you tried masking that terrible AC noise? a large water fountain and a a few small ones, even simple containers with large, loud bubblers. chimes. outdoor speakers for a constant background of classical or jazz.... also, it seems like there must be some sort of 'quieting wraps' for loud AC units? dunno, just guessing. i'd do some research and suggest to neighbor they get one. i didn't see the attack posts mentioned above. there's no need for anyone to be rude on this site. hope it doesn't discourage good people from posting....See MoreOLLD 7/10
Comments (274)EZ - my house isn't as big as it looks...it's 3 bedrooms with 1 1/2 baths... We're in one of the less ritzy suburbs so lovely old homes are affordable in this area. It's a beautifully designed house and sits on a double lot. The original owner of this house was a widower who hired a nanny to look after the children after his wife died when the children were quite young (childbirth perhaps?). Eventually, he married the nanny and they built my house and the eldest daughter and her husband built the house next door. The story I heard was that the daughter's house was a wedding present but I don't know whether that is actually true. The husband died about 10 years after building this house and his widow lived in the house for another 35 years or so. The daughter and her husband had a three bedroom house on a much smaller scale and they had four sons. One of the boys lived with Grandma so he could get his own room and he and his grandmother went over to eat with the rest of the family every night....See MoreThermador - Have seen some pretty negative reviews on appliances
Comments (255)Hi @JJ Mekai -- Wellllllll, I just ordered Fisher Paykel appliances. Several reasons..... I could not see spending and extra $4k on a Thermador fridge vs FP fridge ($4k) when it only had about 2+ more cu space, Availability of Thermador during this pandemic was also a big deciding factor. Another factor -- for $2,800 I am considering the FP Multi-temp Chiller Drawer, It is pretty cool and has been around 10 years. It may solve my bar needs. It can go from being a pull out drawer freezer for ice at bar to a fridge to a wine cooler, pantry setting, and so on. I don't want a noisy and troublesome ice maker, I don't have one friend that has not had issues with their ice machine. Check out a u-tube video of chiller drawer, So with the FP fridge and chiller drawer, I am still not at the steep $8k Thermador fridge. It helped that the store owner uses FP and services it. I might have gone with Thermador if I knew I could get it within a reasonable time,...See Moresherrygirl zone5 N il
