Cool...or nightmare-ish?

That's a big bird

I think I might like it better alone on a wall w/o any furniture in front of it

    Somehow the scale seems off...

I love it, and that sofa is TDF.

    I also LOVEEE it

I am trying to imagine waking up from a nap on that couch. 😂

    but yes, very cool

I love it, but agree the scale of the bird as compared to the flowers seems off.

Could this possibly be photoshopped? Or whatever the current iteration of that phrase is . . .

FWIW, I grew up with a very similar couch. Same shape, but the frame was solid wood, not upholstered. The sides were decorated with caning. But anyway, it started out orange silk and then got recovered in dark green crushed velvet with a mustard undertone. Dad sold it in a garage sale, long before MCM antiques became the rage. Probably worth a fortune now . . .

No. I get that it is intentional, but I just don't care for the scale. OW, great.

Well, I imagine that it would make anyone walking into that room feel small and possibly even delicate (LOL). I’m blown away by the beauty of that (what?) wallpaper. I actually like the room. But, I wouldn’t want it in my home.

Whimsy doesn't have to be to scale. 😉

Pretty in a photograph, awful to live with. IMO

What else is in the house?

    Cool!

Pretty wall art, but way too dark overall for me.

Also think a mossy green velvet would be better...

Very dramatic. But I don’t think I could live with it. I love the sofa and chair and well, the furnishings. The wallpaper just seems overwhelming with it all and somehow downright scary.

Love it! Thanks for finding and sharing such interesting stuff, sometimes cool, sometimes scary, sometimes fugly, but always interesting!

I absolutely love it and I love when this scale of paper is done in a powder room so you can visit it often enough but leave quickly.

I love everything about and in that picture!

Coming back to say that all I can really see is bird poo on that pretty sofa.

    former bird owner

No, no, no ... in WhimsyWorld, that bird doesn't poo at all, nor does it make harsh cawing sounds or throw itself wildly against anything made of glass. She just sits there and looks pretty, whistling a soft and lilting little tune.

When I was small, my mother promised a canary for my birthday, telling me it would sing. When we got the little yellow bird and it began to trill melodically, I asked my mother when it was going to SING. I seriously expected lyrics to come out of that tiny beak. Apparently I was a rather dimwitted child.

Ida, right? In my perfect world, I would have non-pooping birds that sing Rolling Stones, Boston, and Carole King.

I’m not into heavy metal much, but this bird has it going on:

I love it.I think I could live with it for a while, but probably not forever. Then again, perhaps forever.

If one could remove the bird, I'd like it more.

    That parrot! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣

I love it, but not as much as I love IdaClare's photo. I can't watch the video because I am sitting in (birdless) room with cable watching DH. I wish I could photoshop that girl onto the couch.

I love it, but then I've been looking at similar wallpaper for my dining room.

cool because nightmarish. furniture seems redundant somehow though

I would love it in someone else’s house!

Oh, that brings back memories of a couch and chair my parents had long ago ! They were upholstered with a dark blue velvety fabric and I loved them. Now I want a blue velvet couch !

The bird ? No, I wouldn't want that on my wall, or the flowers either. Not nightmarish, but somewhat overwhelming. It's a pretty scene, but no thanks.

It’s whet I consider gorgeous high design. Great for magazines, sales photos, and high end homes people don’t actually spend much time in. For daily living I suspect it would grow old unless you LOVE it.

I like it, especially the scale, but it is a bit dark for me. I would have to see the whole room to make a decision.

I love anything that isn't gray and white these days. If I ran the world, beige would be banned.

Certainly not nightmarish to me, as I love birds, ornate wallpaper and the color of the couch. But it is treading a mighty fine line towards not working for me due to the scale of the wallpaper print.

I finally got a chance to watch Jinx's video and, boy, was that a good time! From there, I fell straight down a YouTube hole of singing birds and was in stitches for hours.

I'm wondering if it's the lamp, which I adore, that is skewing things, bird-wise?
