I make crumb blocks, or string blocks, or HSTs from left over triangles, or 4 patches.

Love log cabin blocks, and use a special ruler to make them. I will go through my scrap bag and cut small pieces to the sizes required. Mine are organized in plastic bags by color, stacked according to size. When I accumulate enough of say, pink, I make a pile of pink and white blocks for baby quilts. If you make a number at once, they can be string pieced.

I also have a number of Wee Care gowns, so in half an hour I can hem one or sew on the neck binding.

Crumb blocks, like Beverly. It has been hard being away from my stash since the end of November. I have my sewing machine but don't really want to rummage through my mom's stuff - although she has so much she would never miss any! OR, just cut scraps and organize.

Right now, I am working on more string quilt blocks. That is pretty mindless sewing.

Definitely string blocks. There's something so satisfying about making them. I always put a white string down the middle.

I always have quilting to do, so until I catch up, I put a quilt under the needle and free motion.
