Looking for a little direction here...

I'm having a dilemma choosing pool tile for a renovation on a gunite Kindney-shaped pool. The coping is to be travertine with a wood decking following the outside edge of the coping.

I really was hoping for contrast. I like the selection of glass tiles on the market, however my contractor is pushing me towards 6x6. Most seem a bit lack-luster. Attached is an original image of the pool when it was originally built. Any advice / ideas would be appreciated!
