I grow kangaroo paws - Anigozanthos - every year in containers. IME, they will not overwinter successfully below zone 10 but you may increase that range if kept out of any winter rainfall (didn't work for me). They have overwintered if brought into a cool but dry area for winter storage.

Not at all fussy about soil conditions as long as well draining. I use the same 5-1-1 mix I use for almost all my containerized plants.

I know I can overwinter them -- I already have tropical "annuals" growing on my protected porch year round. Stucco is great for absorbing heat. Winter rainfall is not a problem either -- we've got a quarter of an inch of rain since April 2020.

I'm more interested in long-term container maintenance, fertilizer, etc.

you find your best info.. using the latin name of a plant ... as the best sources use such.. if an info source does not use such... consider said info suspect ...

Nurseries around here are packed with Kangaroo Paws every spring, and it does well in the valley, protected by walls in people's yards. I've seen mass plantings of the tall varieties in California. Stunning!

As long as you can overwinter them, then treat the same as you would any other containerized plant. Fertilize regularly during the primary growing season and up-pot or repot as necessary. I don't find them be overly drought tolerant in a container setting and I watered them as I did all my other containers - as needed. Flowerheads will droop noticeably if allowed to get too dry.
