so it depends on a few factors. 1) are you cabinets structurally sound? if not, it's not worth it and they should be replaced. if they are OK but may only work for a few more years, paint and save up. if it's in great shape but youvwant to update it, paint the cabinet bases and buy new doors.

2. how much time do you have? you can paint them yourself but this is a weekend project if you are skilled or a few weekends if you aren't. you can hire someone to paint them but the cost is not much different that replacing the doors and you painting the cabinets with prepped prefabbed doors.

Great info. Thank you!

Most people dont know the most durable and easy way is to use spray paint in a can....it has a high content of glue in the formula and sticks better than anything you could brush on...a good cleaning...one coat of spray primer..and couple coats of color will be pretty indestructible ...since it is a farm house using a pale shade of green or blue and a partly butcher-block countertop is very country and user friendly

The correct technique for painting is very light spray coverage so it wont drip ...in as many layers as needed for full coverage....we did our summer home like this and 20 years later ...the finish still looks good

We used antiques for our cabinets and the spray paint was the easiest as well as durable

I like your wood cabinets. Perhaps change your hardware...I guess to black (since that’s what everyone does?)...but gold would look nice

Awesome advice everyone. Can't tell you how much I appreciate it. This stuff does not come easily to me!
