I'm thinking the same thing about my house. I think the black color would be too overpowering, possibly making the house seem smaller.

also do a search for metal roof visualizers and maybe you can get an idea, some you can use your own house photo and others not. I previously used one that you couldn't use your own photo but they had a house similar to mine and made my decision easier.

I have a small tan ranch with a black hip roof and it isn't overpowering or make the house look smaller.

I want to follow the thread. But I have a relevant question:

Will a black metal roof fade? Are you concerned about fading?

Yes, I am. From what I've read online, the dark colors get lighter over the years and the light colors get darker! But the darker colors show less dirt or grime.

I see. So, my next question would be: do they fade more in some areas than others? Will the roof be blotchy? Is there maintenance you'd need to do to keep it from fading? I would think the whole point of a metal roof is the longer-life aspect. So, it should last in every way, including color integrity. Just saying, that's what I would care about.

The roof I have selected has a 40 yr paint warranty but of course over time it will fade, as do shingles. I am also going with a standing seam roof because of the hidden fasteners due to less degradation of fasteners exposed to sun and the weather.
