Full wall in kitchen

last modified: 5 years ago

Hi all,

Looking for some advice as to what to do with this huge full wall in my kitchen area.

I have been toying with 3 large full length mirrors in pewter/ champagne spaced evenly, with some panelling in between. I've attached some images below of my thoughts and the actual kitchen (please excuse the working from home setup!!)

Look forward to hearing your ideas and thanks in advance!

Are you sure everyone wants to watch themselves eating?

where is the kitchen? What does it look like?

does that window let in good natural light? would have time and interest to take care of some plants?

Thanks, Ital. Yes, I'd be doing it all myself, just trying to decide on the best layout of the above!

You’ve got room for a nice sideboard, or cupboard containing cutlery and plates, etc.

I just got depressed. ............ Maybe from the lack of color. Maybe from the harsh lighting

even the lack of softness in the window shade.

    FORGIVE ME....... PLEEEZE.???

How about a bit of COLOR. Perhaps trade the rug for another in a better size. and more color. It is too small for the space. and ten select some art that pulls cor from the rug. How about a server back there? Some lamps. Think less kitchen....more DINING.,,,,,,,, And center on the space ?

I was going to suggest a sideboard but @Tony Stevens beat me to it. And a big painting above it. And replace the light fixture with something spectacular.

Thanks, Jan. It is a brand new build and I haven't gotten around to putting anything into the kitchen as of yet, apart from the table and chair... What do you think about the 3 champagne mirrors on the wall with slats inbetween them, in potentially a navy colour?

Will you’ve reflecting the cooking debris in the kitchen when you sit down to eat? I’d rather see some art on that wall.

Get you, Lynne. What about the square grid?

    Any of these are nice

I wouldn’t put any mirrors at all in a dining room. I like Jan’s sample above with the triptych in the blues/greens.

IMO a wall of mirrors would the bottom of the list get a buffet nice long one and get a fab huge piece of art it will totally transfom that wall ansd space. BTW the rug is way too small.

Have to say I agree with other poster about the mirrors. Am afraid that installing them will instantly make your room look dated. The only real positive to having mirrors in your dining room might be that it makes the space look bigger although with just the 3 sections it might not even do that. Would suggest a different table and chairs. The chairs you have now just seem to crowd in on each other. So, perhaps a large table if you keep the chairs. Would suggest a cool sideboard, thoughtful and interesting artwork and perhaps drapes instead of a window shade. Certainly will need a chandelier that is of appropriate scale. The rooms has loads of potential. Good luck!
