According to the ACS, 'Spartan' has an annual growth rate of 12-15" while 'Blue Point' has a growth rate of only 4-6 inches. It is considered a dwarf while Spartan is considered a full sized tree.

and to be clear ... being trees.. they do not stop growing at some magical height ...

faster to height.. faster to outgrowing a given spot ...

you might be better off with a post giving big city location.. and a pic or two of the spot.. and asking for suggestions ...

depending on location... some junipers can have various problems.. including snow load.. and tip blight... among others ... that said.. i other locations.. they grow like weeds ...

imo... just about anything is better than a juniper ....

I've had people tell me juniper smells like cat pee to them. The result was the truly unnecessary murder of some beautiful mature junipers in a neighborhood common area that were an asset to the landscape.

Odor varies with species.

The odor varies in the human species alone.

However we are all little stinkers at first.

Beware ice.

I lost nine full grown Spartans last month in all the ice. Snow never bothered them but that ice split some, caused some to fall completely over, and the rest contorted and splayed worse than my Torulosa.

But to answer your growth question, these three on the left front corner were installed on spring 2011. I bought them as super tiny babies in 2008 and held them in a nursery zone out back until I found a place for them.

And here they are five years later in 2016. I don't have any good photos later than that.

Not anywhere near "full grown" of course.

"Not anywhere near "full grown" of course."

Point taken. Using the "size at 10 years" definition then.
