No. It has multiple layers of polyurethane to protect it. Won’t be a high use area but the last I built had a ton of use and never a problem.

There are actually a few different chemicals and acids you can use but I wanted a more blueish tint on this one so I actually used Miracle Grow.

OMG that is gorgeous! We have copper countertops in our kitchen...unsealed and they get some interesting patina going...this truly is stunning! Makes me want to consider doing this to mine and sealing them! Thanks for sharing

@Gary can you tell me what miracle grow product you used and if you diluted it?

I have a copper bar top that is lacquered so it doesn't patina. I would like to remove the lacquer if I can and do something like you've done.

what poly did you use to go over it? I have a sheet of copper i'm using as a backsplash in a trailer.

The Miraclegro is as Chiflipper states. The poly I used was a water based spray on polyurethane for the first couple of coats until the patina is stable and then i put on heavy coats with a brush. at least 8 coats. lacquer works as well but typically gives a little more color change.

With the patina I found that it gave a more natural look to pour in on vs spray. The spray ended up with overspray that looked weird. I did layers meaning that when I put the first patina on I actually wiped most of it off with a wet rag and did it again. I repeated that process until I found the patina I wanted and then I added to that without wiping off. It gave it different levels of blue and green. Make sure you use a scotch brite to take the polish off the copper to start with. Important for the poly to apply.
