You have a light in the fan for utility..now all you should need are reading lamps bedside. Why do you feel you need more lighting?

Lamps, not ceiling lights-think about lying in bed staring up into the spotlights. Beautiful bedside side lamps should be the first purchase, followed by a floor lamp in a corner with a chair or two for relaxing at the end of the day and tying your shoes in the morning.

Would suggest nightstand lamps that are controlled by a wall switch.

Ceiling lights in living areas or bedrooms should be ambient; for seeing how to get into the room in the dark. Once you're in, you turn on task lighting (table and floor lamps) and accent lights(art and up lights) while dimming or turning off the ceiling light. This is especially true of fan lights, and even recessed lighting should be on a dimmer so the majority of light in a room is coming from about 58-64" above the floor.

I happen to like overhead lighting in a bedroom for when I clean but I never like a fan over my bed I much prefer a floor fan like a Dyson . As for lighting it would not take much to have some LED pot lights run from that ceiling electrical box . Then add the good reading type lights on the night tables with a wall switch.

I would remove the fan and add a chandelier. Not even necessarily for practicalities. Meaning you may not need to turn it on. I just feel it’ll bring the space together...

Great ideas! Here’s what our bedroom looked like before.
We have our dressers (which I know are way too big for the room) within the room which is why I was thinking more overhead lighting would be ideal (that fan gives off minimal lighting when the cover is installed.
Whatever overhead lighting we do put in will have a dimmer switch.
I live in Alaska where it stays pretty dark most winter, so I do like having lots of different lighting options.
Also, husband loves overhead fans. And I doubt I can convince him to take down the one he just put up.
