Dishwasher recommendations please

The Asko that came with our house is dying. We’re looking at replacing with a Bosch, but are open to any reliable, low-maintenance 24” standard door model that cleans well and doesn’t have drainage or mildew collection issues. Thank you!

We purchased a Bosch with the third rack about 5 years ago. I never thought I would love an appliance, but I LOVE my dishwasher! I’m not able to get the exact model number at the moment, but it is very similar to the 300 series (if not that one!)

We replaced our Whirlpool dishwasher with a Bosch Ascenta, the low-end model. $450 last summer. It cleans very well and does it in less time than the Whirlpool took. The downside is the door will not stay propped open a smidge to let it air out. I like to keep my dw slightly open so things don't get stinky or promote unfavorable organism growth. I solved the issue by using a chip bag/clothes pin type of clip that I attach to the front portion of the upper rack so the door will stay open a little bit. This is a deal breaker for some people, but we didn't shop in-store and bought on-line so we had to accept this issue as one of those 'if you don't get see it in person...' things. We are pleased with it, and we loved our Whirlpool until it died an untimely death.

We own a Miele (at home) and a Bosch (vacation home). My vote goes to Miele all the way.

Bosch is on super backorder at the moment, due to COVID related manufacturing disruptions. So, if you want Bosch, you will need to be flexible on the model (based on what's available), unless willing to wait 3 or more months on backorder. All the 3-rack Bosches were sold out in our area, and we weren't willing to wait, so we went with a KitchenAid dishwasher with a 3rd rack "Flex Rack." It does everything we need it to.

We chose KitchenAid by calling our local appliance repair companies and asking their advice. (It was there that we learned to stay away from Miele, because there are zero Miele service providers in our area.) The appliance repair companies all said KichenAid & Bosch get the fewest repair calls for dishwashers. Samsung & LG get the most dishwasher repair calls. I can affirm their opinion of LG, as that was the dishwasher we were replacing, after the 3rd time the pump went out in the 4 years we'd owned it.

    Bosch. Quiet and efficient.

Following. Our 11 year old GE that we use every single day has some disintegrating racks and might be having a drain issue so I need to be proactive so we don't need to use paper plates. I really cannot complain about our GE dishwasher after that long.

We bought a GE for another home about a month ago (not installed yet) but according to Consumer Reports, GE doesn't have the best reliability. The guy at our local appliance store (in business for 60 years) said the same as the prior poster--Bosch is on backorder and Samsung and LG are bad.

Thanks so much for the responses. Does anyone have experience with the KitchenAid model KDTE204KPS. A few articles I've read say it's very comparable to the Bosch SHP865ZPJN and maybe a little better in terms of reliability. Find that a bit hard to believe since our KA fridge has only been OK. Also, what's your experience with getting "open box" appliances at Best Buy? Are they usually OK, or do they tend to be duds that were returned for performance issues? Thanks again!

My parents have that KA model and they love it so much that when they recently moved, they immediately replaced the dishwasher with that same KA model they had at their previous home. It is SUPER quiet! Based on their experience, we recently got a KA dishwasher with a Flex Rack. I thought it would be quiet like theirs, since they are both KA, but the model I bought is quite a bit louder.

You picked out the right one! 39 decibels

Bosch has the 8 top rated dishwashers in consumer reports. They are quiet and reliable. I loved mine, and will be getting a new one for my kitchen remodel.
