It's very hard to ID a rose from one picture. Especially pink ones as there are hundreds of them. Did this rose bloom all season or just once in the spring?

What do you mean the rose died of black spot? Roses do not die from black spot. They may lose all their leaves and look terrible but they will not die. They will simply grow a new set of leaves.

I'm so sorry , i really don't know much about roses. the canes turned black and it died :(. it is the only photo i have from this rose

canes didn't have a sign of life. they were dark brown so i pruned and pruned but the darkness on canes keep continuing because of pruning the canes the rose became so short and finally it died :( now i made a search on internet. it might have had rose die back disease :( i couldn't save it... i feel so sad...

Structurally it looks primarily like a modern rose rather than an ancient kind such as a damask.

To my eye, which isn't very good, it looks like Duchess de Brabant. My eyes are not great and hard to tell for sure from that picture.

I'm sure you have very good eyes. the photo it's just so good :( But I think the rose i had was very similar to Félicité Parmentier rose from appearance point... but Parmentier blooms only in summer. mine bloomed from late spring to the end of autumn :(

it was light pink colour rose which had inner dark pink colour

canes were very thorny... the roses were very droopy . but still it was a goddness.. divinely fragnance and prettiest colour.. i will miss it to the end of my life.....

oh... i found another rose which is have absolutely the same look to the rose i had. " it's the far most similar rose to mine .. GLOIRE DES MOUSSEUX " old rose.. but it's also once blooming rose. :(

The blooms remind me of Madame Caroline Testout. But I can't see the leaves or thorns well enough to make more than a guess. The problem with my guess is that MCT has very little scent, at least to my nose.

I think it would help to write down its attributes. It was thorny, repeat flowering, how tall was the plant? Did it seem like it needed support or was it free standing? You liked the fragrance, but was it subtle or very strong? What did the smell remind you of? Was it spicy like cinnamon or clove? Was it fruity? Did it smell like rosewater? That might help narrow it down.

Cute, put this in Antique Roses also. I bet someone will know.

Looks like Cl. La France to me, and it is fragrant.

My friend also suggested la France . She thought the shrub form and possibly the original, not the watered down version in mass circulation now . I had no idea there was more than one but it happens.

It looks like either a Tea rose, or an early Hybrid Tea. If the fragrance was damask (old rose) that would mean Hybrid Tea.

So a pink Hybrid Tea introduced before about 1950.

There are thousands of rose cultivars, with none of the follow up photos posted on this thread showing exactly the same flower structure as the variety being asked about - your best bet is to find some places in your area that display roses and see if the kind you had turns up there. All the more so because of the limiting situation where the giver of the rose seems to have no ability to provide background information for you to use as clues to its possible identity.
