I'd close that opening to the the guest room. What's the harm if they walk around? I know this does not answer which one, but it is a small bathroom.

Agree with shirlpp to close off the guest room door. Not only does it give you more options, but guests (or anyone else using that bathroom) won't have to worry about locking the other door. And then unlocking that door when they're done with the bathroom.

Agree, close off the guest door. We have this exact set up and I hate it. For some reason DH won't let me close off the extra door. Ours is shared by 2 boys; 1 boy has the door into his room and the other boy uses the hall door. It's horrible bc they forgot to unlock one of the doors and then the 1st boy has to walk around and go through the hall anyway, or the 2nd boy has to go through the 1st boy's room, sort of like the Jack and Jill bathroom dilemma. If I ever convince DH how dumb this is we will close it up. That wall space could be used for a homework desk for him which would be a much better use of space. I'm sure there's something really nice you could put in the guest room along that wall space such as a reading chair or a writing desk / vanity and stool where guests could put their toiletries, do hair and make-up, etc.

Thx everyone. Have to say we did consider closing off the door to the guest room so we have better layout, but never occurred to us the whole locking thing, maybe because our boys are still toddlers! great point. My other halfs argument is that there will be resale value if the guest room has an ensuite and is hell bent on two doors. And if so, Im thinking the 2nd layout( from left) is the best option?

How is it setup now?

I would go with number 4. It gives you a full sized bath and the toilet is not on view when the door is opened. I also think you should close off the second door.
