I think that would be a nice alternative gjcore. Much better than not having one at all!! I still vote for an in person one, though - having outside should be doable IMO. But I know not everyone may feel that way, so zoom may be the way to go.

I prefer in-person outdoors, but I'm game for whatever.

I missed last year's spring swap so much! I would be interested in an outdoor event.

I've never come to a swap, but I'd be interested this year. As long as Covid isn't picking up like crazy again, I think an outdoor even would probably be ok. How fun!

I'm up for an outdoor swap in a park or otherwise. As a backup, I have permission to use the church in Lakewood on a Saturday in May.

I believe it doesn't have to an either/or situation. A zoom meeting can compliment an in person swap and stand by itself for those still hesitant to gather in a group.

I just got my first Moderna shot. Still another month before the second and a few weeks after to take full affect. We're going to take a cautious approach going forward and see what transmission rates are and what effect the new virus variants are going to have.

Hi All, I’d be willing to host an outdoor swap in my garden in late May. I have plenty of outdoor space and I’ve added even more shade. We’re also building a workshop that will have an outdoor sink and a bathroom, so nobody will have to go inside my house at all. We could also host a zoom session to let people attend virtually if they are not comfortable coming in person

How beautiful, Faith! Your place looks even more fantastic than it did before! I think it would be a great place for a swap, and end of May sounds like a good time to me.

We are interested in an in person. Would prefer that everyone who comes agrees to wear a mask and is vaccinated. We have our shots scheduled for Fri. Don't know which vaccine yet.

I like the Lakewood church as it has alot of shaded area with room to spread out.

I don't see why we can't also do porch swaps in advance or after as people start listing what they have. No reason we can't combine the two methodologies. I love trying new thing so whichever way I get them I am happy. And there is no reason we can't do both, as a group.

Really looking forward to what people have this year. I always learn so much. Sometimes I find a gem that becomes a star in our yard. :-)

I agree mmmm that we could do both porch and in-person (with Zoom) swap in order to include everyone who wants to participate :) Attending in-person is my first choice, and either Faith's or the church works for me. But will opt for the porch swap if that ends up working out best.

I’ll certainly get vaccinated as soon as I’m able to, but I’m in the general population so it will depend on whether shots are available to everyone by then. I’m also fine doing it at a park if that makes people more comfortable.

The place I found that has the most vaccines readily available is the Colo. State Site/Adams County/Thornton Fire Dept. Every few days they have lots of appts. and it's drive through.

I'm getting mine at Walgreen's and my wife at Safeway. Just have to keep at it and get lucky when they open up a bunch of appts.

I'll be getting ready to hightail it out of town the end of May, so any form of spring swap is out for me this year, but I'd be very interested in a Fall Swap when we get that far--if I'm in town on the right day!

Mostly I'm posting to give this information! For anybody who's looking for a place to get the first shot and is anywhere at all near (or wiling to drive to) the Thornton Community Center--110th and Colorado Blvd--this is an easy site to watch for when they open up new slots, and it's an incredibly easy place to get the shots! It's all administered by the Thornton Fire Department--everyone is wonderful!--and it's totally drive-thru, so you don't need to go into any building at all! Once you score the first shot you're in line for the second, and they email you a link for how to get that appt when it's due! Just basic paperwork, no insurance info required for anything at all!

If anyone wants to look, here's the link to see if you qualify, and then to get to the page with the slots to see if any are open at the moment. If you're interested in this option I recommend keeping it up during the day and start from the first page again every now and then to see if they've "added anything." I'm game for both, zoom and in person (following mask and social distancing guidelines). I can also help out with porch pick-up/drop offs. I'm located in Arvada and work in Aurora. I'm just excited for this year's gardening season.

Let’s talk dates! If I’m to host (or indeed, to attend), it will need to be May 22nd as I won’t be available on the 29th.

I could also do the 30th, although that’s a Sunday and it’s Memorial Day weekend so I imagine that many people might be spending it with family.

I think most people will be busy planting things during the end of May. Our last frost date is the 12th. I prefer May 1st, 8th/9th or Mother's day weekend for the swap.

Looking back at plant out dates, I see we started planting near the middle of May, ending close to June. Last year was earlier because of the dryness of the soil. I'd be more comfortable having a swap the first few weeks of May. That gives me more time for my garden at home and also the community garden, which takes much more of my time.

Early to mid May is good. I may have gotten ahead of myself in saying we would be interested in an in person due to my enthusiasm over having gotten our shots. We are more likely to participate in the virtual version so time to set up porch pick ups is good.

i don’t mind offering our offerings on line for porch pick ups/trades in advance. Not sure what we will have yet. This is our first year doing seedlings so we didn’t plant a ton. Usually we bring extras from the yard.

Ok. My workshop bathroom won’t be finished till mid May, so let’s do it at a park.

Faith, I was thinking Tomatoz church was a good location. I like it because it has a wide area of shade. Plus extra room to spread out onto the lawn.
