well, Hercules is just a guess...it can be Amigo: much more common, right? red is closer to mine from pics. and veining is there too and those light stripes in the throat.

i'm just fishing for some close enough ID to figure out if it's large grower and what kind of bloomer ..

it was 'an accidental purchase' :)) at plant fair: the pot is crammed with rather small bulbs 4 out of 5 with flowers stalks! but there are some red streaks on leaves so i am keeping it separate.

but the flower shape and color just floored me!!

Yes, I think I found most sites. :) . the above 2 hybrids seems to be the closest. But they don’t have the same flower shape, mine is not so round.

i looked again: they have a very nice photo library.

Red Label is close( they say it’s similar to ‘Amigo’). and ‘Red Tiger’ has interesting description of petals (tepals) : back swept. really like mine. I don’t see that many with back swept narrow petals. And it mentions Sonatini Parentage?

My guess would be Amigo. Walmart has sold those in quantity over the past several holiday seasons.

do you know, if 'Amigo' has shorter leaves and somewhat narrower then, say, 'Minerva' or other varieties? mine seems to be this way and bulbs are small abour 2 1/4" diameter and leaves are about 1.5" wide, or perhaps they are just young bulbs: i have only 2 flowers per stalk. i'll have to repot after bloom as they are just jammed in pot all 5 of them. the one in the center is even smaller and has no flower stalk. may be the offset..
