Were they mowed? Did you measure leaf length? There are at least 18 species in Texas, and not all have photos. I can't get a close 3 dimensional look with this top view. See if this fits.

No, these were not mowed. And the weird part is that these leaves are actually OVER 1" wide...more like ~1.25" wide!

It is still difficult to tell which exact species this is, even with the new photos. The two most likely it could be are gigantea and virginiana, because of their wide leaves. There are quite a few Tradescantia observations on I nat, for the Dallas area, that don't have species IDs, so other people seem to be having a hard time nailing these also. There's nothing more I can do.
