Thinset vs self leveling compound

I have a small bathroom floor to level and thought I bought self leveling concrete but I discovered too late that it's thinset. Can I use thinset for the same purpose (I know it's harder to level and tends to settle) or is it better to just wait and go out and get the self leveling concrete and do it right? It's a small space and any unevenness is 1/4" at most.

Wait and use the SLC. Thinset from what I know is not really or that application and may not holdup as a leveler.

Ah well. I had everything prepped and ready to start my project before I realized it was thinset. I guess I'll wait.

self leveling. You don't want thinset because it doesn't self level, and the finish will be to rough to set flooring. Save it for when you set the tiles.

What's the big deal with returning it? is Home Depot far away?

Well, I opened it already. I'll save it for another project. I'm not able to drive so hopping in the car to get the right products just when I need them isn't so simple for me. Oh well. Sometimes not being able to see well sucks. Thanks everyone for the help.
