Mont Blanc Leathered Quartzite

Hello All,

I have been reading tons of posts regarding quartz vs. quartzite vs. granite and so on. I have been to several slab yards and have fallen in love with Mont Blanc quartzite in the leathered finish. Our kitchen cabinets and drawers have been refaced and are being painted. The uppers will be white and the lowers black. Do any of you all have this quartzite or any quartzite in a leathered finish? I would love to know what you think of it and how it holds up in a kitchen that gets lots of use. I have attached pictures of the slab I saw. The pictures do it no justice! Any tips and suggestions are welcomed. Thank you!

We did a leathered green fusion quartzite on our kitchen island... We’ve only been back in our house since the beginning of December so can’t speak to longevity, but so far we are very happy with it. I like that it doesn’t show smudges or fingerprints like our perimeter counters (which are polished quartz) do.

I don't have quartzite in the kitchen, but I recently put in leathered Belvedere quartzite in the bar and love it!

I have leathered perla venata quartzite and I love it. I didn’t want shiny counters. Go with a mitered edge, not stacked, for a professional look.

How is the leathered against staining and etching?

Imcutnup: Oddly, the only thing that has stained my leathered quartzite has been strawberries. Red wine, red vinegar, hibiscus tea, turmeric, paprika—nothing has stained it—except the strawbwrries. Quartzite doesn’t etch from acids such as pickle juice, vinegar or lemon juice because unlike marble, there’s no calcium in quartzite.
