I was wondering when the annual peeper thread would start. I heard them for the first time this year two nights ago. Usually, they seem to start the first night we open the windows, but this year they are a little early.

Yes!! Here near Worcester MA last night, sounded so lovely. I think I love the frog concerts even more than bird song. It does seem earlier this year -- wonder what that might indicate about the way weather may go.

Now looking forward to the little gray tree frogs that come up onto my second-story deck and practice their arias while hidden in the plants! So adorable.

I can't hear the peepers from the house this early so I will have to go across the street and listen from the pond down the hill. I'll check tomorrow.

I cannot hear peepers at the house, either, but I will listen close as I pass their numerous watering holes!

A friend on the other side of town posted a video with sound but we haven't heard them at our house. Across the road my husband said he heard the frogs that sound like ducks.

We took a short hike through some land trust property in our neighborhood last night and were surprised to hear no peepers yet. The area is full of vernal pools. The temperatures have been up and down here bottoming out with a rare low of 22 F last Friday so maybe the little creatures figured it best to go back into hiding for a few days.
