Coretec Grande or Republic

Up until a few days ago, we were set on Republic SPC flooring. We were sold on the quality and the spc core, but still could not decide on a color choice. We were recently recommended a flooring store in our city and upon visiting found out they do not sell and install Republic but instead CoreTec.

Honestly, the only line we considered was the Grande and it looks beautiful, feels very substantial and the wear layer is actually thicker. However it is a WPC and I'm concerned that it would have more issues with water due to the wood polymer vs limestone polymer. Also, I understand it could be more susceptible to denting. Anyone with experience with both products? Would love to understand if any of the above differences really matter

What did you decide on? I’m at the same decision point but in my area there is a $3 a sqft. difference. I’m not sure I see a huge difference for that much $$ at least in looks.

Sorry for late reply but we finally chose the Republic Post Oak and it was installed in our new build yesterday. Really like the feel and look

Kathy Harrington, I am in the exact same situation you were in, I’m debating between coretec grande goldin oak, or this republic post oak flooring. Are you happy with your choice? I’m leaning more towards Republic as well because it’s a lot more affordable and I love the look of it in all the pictures I see. As long as I can verify that people that have it installed in their homes are happy with it and feel like it’s a good durable floor that doesn’t scratch too easily?! I would greatly appreciate your feedback. Thanks. :)

Hi Stephanie, I have actually used both floors. I installed about 600 ft of the Republic post oak in my in-laws basement about 4 years ago, it’s a great product and I like how it clicks together. It has held up very well, still looks new, except for a small dent about the size of a quarter, not sure how that happened. It’s so small and not noticeable unless you happen to pick something up at that spot, but even then I think I’m the only one who has seen it. This is a SPC product so I’m surprised by this dent, I have no idea how it happened, we don’t live there. I’m guessing someone dropped something fairly heavy.
About April of 2021 I also installed about 2400 sq ft of the Cortec grande golden oak in a rental home, it’s nice and feels great to walk on, forgiving but still solid. I like the way the Republic clicked together better than the Cortec. I used the Cortec because of its heft, 15mm, I was looking to stop some of the sound from going down to the basement apartment.
Either is a good product, very durable, but I’m not a big fan of LVP for my personal home, I like look and feel hardwood, either solid or engineered and tile in the bathrooms. I have no pets, just grandkids, so we aren’t that rough on floors.
