Well. How much floor in what bath of what size and with what grout etc etc etc and WHAT subway of what size in what material and in what color on the shower walls????

It's a small bathroom-8x8. The shower will be a stall-48inches long. It will have glass doors and one half glass/half wall. The subway tiles are white traditional-3'x4'(guessing on that) Using a gray grout. It's a house built in the 50's with lots of quirky levels and sections so I didn't want to do anything too mod or sleek. Small white hexagons with little black inset on the floor. Wondering if I should pick something else for the floor of the shower. Thank you for all your comments!

I have nothing against a small tile. I would do a larger , more updated white subway. such as 4 x 12...and the PALEST paalest gray grout, or just use white. You need absolute perfection on install for a contrasting grout, and on small sizes it will be busy in a big hurry.

I love small tiles for a bathroom floor because they provide good traction to prevent falls. For me, I prefer this to larger tiles that have a texture added for traction. But because these small tiles can be a little busy, I think it looks particularly nice when the same tile is used in the main floor and in the shower as you have suggested instead of adding another design element.

I wouldn't want to clean all that grout from a shower wall! I opted for 2 x 4 feet tiles to have the least grout as possible in the shower. IMHO.

To answer your original question, yes, use the same hexagons in the shower that you are using on the main floor of the bathroom. Your wall tile is probably 3 x 6, not 3 x 4, which would be an odd size. If you're trying to do the bathroom in a classic style, then 3 x 6 is perfect.

It is a matter of personal preference. I stage very high end new construction that often times have different shower tile. If it’s not too busy and keeps with the rest of what you’re trying to do, pick what you like.

High end homes have bigger baths: ) The more floor/shower floor unity in a small bath? The BETTER.

Agree with the same tile inside and outside the shower, except when using large format tiles on the outside floor. Most shower floors have a compound curvature (for drainage) and large format tiles are not compatible with curved surfaces.

We put in porcelain wood look tile, love it, not slippery.

No offense, I am SOOOO sick of wood look porcelain tile , fine in Florida tropics as part of a continuous flooring throughout.

Does NOT work well with hallway bath, especially if that hallway is hardwood real deal. that's for sure.. May be fine off a carpeted mater bedroom. But even then...........so can a zillion other tiles be just fine. We're going to look back on these in a short while..........along with quartz counter tops ( especially faux marble ) and "know" exactly the date of the install: )
