Water stain on granite

I had a jar sitting on my granite countertop for about a week with water under it. When I realized, I wiped up the water, but it left a stain. I’ve tried to get it off with baking soda and water paste left over 24 hours, but it still looks like this. One friend told me it will just go away with time. How can I get rid of this?

It looks like moisture got into the stone. It will dry out, and you can try to hurry it along with a hair dryer. Once it's all the way dry, it would be a very good idea to seal the stone.

Keep at it with a a poultice, but don't be afraid to hit it with a Bernz-O-Matic. You can't go crazy, but I've seen those spots disappear under a flame.
