Matte is a finish. Matte WHAT? Ceramic tile? Marble? Porcelain?

How "bout you just don't leave the sauce there for a "few days"...........especially on marble.

Anything left to settle on ANY surface is harder to clean. Even shiny surfaces are easier in the MOMENT or soon after the spill....splash....spatter.............

I think I am in an alternate universe this morning.....................

Wow, Jan was in a bad mood a year ago. I guess in her universe, everyone has the time to take a magnifying glass to their backsplash every time they cook, and no tiny humans around to make their own messes when no one's looking.

Well, in this universe, I can see that you wrote matte tile. A little digging tells me matte tile takes longer to clean off but shows stains and smudges less than glossy. Just be sure to use a little vinegar when you go to clean 'em. https://www.slique.com.au/are-glossy-tiles-or-matte-finish-tiles-the-best-to-clean/

Enjoy spaghetti night :)

I was about to write in with the same question. It makes a LOT of sense for those of us with teens who cook but may not be the best/most aware, ahem, cleaner-uppers! Or for those of us with busy lives who don't always immediately get to do a thorough cleaning right after cooking, and instead have to pick up kids from sports or get on a work call! The response above was so rude and I'm sorry you received that, mh smith. I COMPLETELY understand where you're coming from. I'm about to have my kitchen tiled with a matte glass tile from fireclay and someone raised the same question so I wanted to look into this, as well. Did you end up going with it? How are you finding it to hold up? Any staining? Particularly difficult to clean compared to glossy/smooth finished tile?

The backsplash finish wont be the issue for stains, its the grout to be concerned with. If its sealed properly u will be fine. Also a Magic sponge will clean tiles if any reasonable stains, its like "magic" ! hahah :-)
