Hi, Linda! We've missed you! Glad you hear your hubby is doing better.

So far this year I've made a pineapple blossom quilt (free pattern from Quiltville), which I will donate, quilted and bound two tops I finished last year - Caribbean Block Party (75 x 75) and Moonlight Sonata (103 x 103), and pieced a top from blocks started by my mom. It will go to my great nephew (brother's grandson) who is getting married in August.

I'm also slowly working at hand quilting a Civil War anniversary quilt. Can't seem to get motivated on that one.

Bkay, I made a Turning Twenty quilt for my sister's 50th birthday (I think it was called Around the Block). I recall it was easy to piece and turned out really pretty.

The sister of the recipient of the Zelda quilt will be graduating from HS this year. So I think I need to hurry up and make another quilt for her. We will all get together in May so I can give Nathan the Zelda quilt. She will be going to Indiana University so I'll make something in red and white. I don't have enough fabric for a scrappy one in those colors, so I need to find a pattern and buy fabric. I'm really ready to start gardening, so I'm going to have to force myself to make some decisions and start. And a new great-niece was just born, so a quilt for her will be in the works, too.

Welcome back, Linda. Glad hubby is doing better. My new projects are gonna be mostly old projects that need finishing. I do have some baby quilts to do but don't have a theme for them yet. And a former coworker wants a Colorado Mountian quilt with a bear on it, but she is in no hurry.

Sounds like you have been very busy, Linda! Glad your husband is on the upswing.

I haven't really planned anything this year other than quilting several quilts I have basted and finding ways to use up stash fabric. I need to start on two more quilts for my niece and nephew. My husband and I managed to sell a piece of hunting property we owned for 20 years, so the proceeds now go into the sailboat fund. We have been looking pretty hard at some heavy displacement mono hull boats this past month. Hopefully we will find THE boat soon. He's retired, but I have a few more years to put in before we can move onto the boat and sail away.

We are finally back in Colorado after being gone since Thanksgiving. We are still unpacking all the stuff we brought from my mom's after cleaning out her house - including 3 huge tubs of fabric! (The good news is we got a full-price offer on her house the day before we left Arizona and they want to close April 30!!!)

My first quilting project will be Wild Moose Chase for our second exchange student's first baby which is due in July. In all the tubs there is NO BROWN! I will need to do a shopping trip for that and maybe a background fabric if I can't rustle up anything here! I am anxious to get sewing, but will need to spend a few days getting things organized to get to my machine!

I really haven’t made any specific quilty plans but I have done two, or is it three, string quilts since Jan. Hard to remember. We have a sad event to deal with. My youngest sister, who lived alone, died on Easter Sunday. BUt was not found until Monday.

Her only daughter lives in Mi. We are across the Detroit River in Windsor, Ontario. The border is pretty well closed to all non-essential travel, so she has not been able to come across yet. The body was cremated and we are waiting for Jen to be here for a burial. Meanwhile, my husband and I are trying to clean out as much of the house as we can. We are there every other day. We were lucky to find the will the first day. Our daughter is the executor but she lives two hours away, so again we are doing a lot of the leg work, to try and make her job a bit easier.

So there is not a lot of time left for any hobbies especially quilting.

I was glad to read Sue’s post that her mother’s house sold in good time. I hope we have the same here.

Here in Columbus, real estate is selling very quickly. Hopefully you have the same where you are.

Theresa, I am so sorry. Something similar happened in another quilt forum I'm in. She lived alone and posted almost every day. We all tried calling, emailing, etc, when we hadn't heard from her for awhile. Finally one of the members who lived the closest drove there. It had been so long, quilts and fabric, everything had to be tossed. It sure taught all of us a lesson. Someone on the forum needs to know who to contact if they can't find you. And, I personally, try to connect with a family member a few times during the day. Not so difficult with FB.

Linda, So glad things are going better at your house and your DH is home.

I'm mostly trying to deal with UFOs this year. I have a few I've worked on but not to the point of ready to be sandwiched and quilted. I'm ok with that as it's acceptable to just move it forward a step. Plus, have been organizing here and there. Have started a couple small quilts and am in the process of putting the blocks together. I'm really wanting to make that Exploding Heart pattern..........sigh.

Oh, Theresa, I am so sorry. I will be praying for you and your family.

So glad to get all the news and Linda, that your husband improves. I'm sorry for your loss Theresa. This has been such a tough year. I hope things perk up soon. I'm glad all around us have had their vaccine and we can be comfortable sewing together again.

I have spent the year doing mostly applique things as I sit. I am also cleaning up our late parents house but we won't be selling it yet. I think I'll just put a renter in it for now. Our real estate market is scary. Things sell immediately with many offers and you don't dare sell your house until you have another one to go to. So, it's like we have a spare house just in case.

I've decided that applique and table runner type things in Xmas designs are the way to go for now. They make nice gifts. I have way too many quilts stuffed in my cupboards.

Oh, I have been missing my machine. I don’t think I can even reach it.

My sister was a knitter and had a bit of a hoarding problem. DH and I have been over to her house almost daily now for five weeks. We have found yarn in every possible place in that house. And it all now lives in my basement. I refuse to send it to the landfill. My daughter will take some of the better yarns, and I have the names of two groups that knit for charity.

Now every closet, drawer, cupboard, cabinet has been cleared out and what didn’t head straight to the landfill, has found a home in our garage, basement and even main floor. Waiting for thrift stores to reopen and begin accepting donations. We are still in lockdown. Or we may have to break down and have a yard sale. My worst nightmare!

hopefully the house will be listed within the next week after a good scrubbing. She was also a life long smoker, so you can imagine what lurks there.

And the burial has not yet been scheduled. Jen cannot cross the border from Mi. So we are hoping that situation can be resolved soon.

Theresa, I have been having some luck with selling things on Facebook's Marketplace. It's easy to do, once you know what you are doing. LOL

Bev, I have been checking that site out lately, just to see what kinds of things are being offered, and the prices asked. I may have to break down and try it.

Where I live we have "Freecycle". You list things you want to give away free and people who see something they want, send you an email. Then you sit it out on the porch and it gets picked up. Sure works well here. There are other things that will go to the thrift stores and I listed a few antiques for sale on Facebook marketplace. It takes time but you'll see the pile going down. There are a lot of charity groups, especially churches, who would love that yarn.

Just when I thought we were finished!

After trucking everything here to our house, we now will be taking lots back!

There is a company called One Source , which helps folks with moving, downsizing, estates etc. They have been hired to do the cleaning, and scrubbing. When daughter Sue met with the rep on Friday, she was surprised that there were no ‘little things’ , like china, glassware, books. She says part of their program is to sell these items and they usually do well. Since the estate will need every penny to break even, we will bring back some of these. There will still be things for the thrift stores.

I have names of two groups who do knitting for charity so some of the yarn will go to them. But there is so much, that we will bring some back to the house and let it be sold. I had told my brother that there was enough yarn to make a scarf for every person in the world and have leftovers. Thanks for your suggestions!
